Apparently the biggest problem with the Commodore PSUs is actually the 5V regulation circuit which can fail, sending higher voltages down the line. THere's probably just a regulator you can swap out though.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

The benefit of RGB2HDMI over solutions such as RetroTink or OSSC is that the signal never leaves the digital domain, no DAC+ADC. It is digital RGB to digital HDMI. The best picture quality possible.

Yeah, I also thought it might be worth doing whilst it's open, I'll take a look.

It feels like it isn't starting TBH as the power light is flashing on and off.

I've heard about this on C64, but not on Amiga PSUs.

My C64 PSU looks a right bodge, I cut the 5v line and glued to the top a Sony PSP 5V PSU :lol:

Well, the A1200 PSU is giving out a good 5v, 12v & -12v after replacing some of the caps (47uF's are on order), so that's something.

Going to also check the accelerator card for shorted SMD caps just in case.

OK, so it's been a bit more about the A1200 than the A500 of late, but it seems that the PSU alone wasn't part of the issue.

I've recapped the accelerator board and I've checked the SMD caps for shorts and it's all good there. I also gave the edge connector a good scoosh with contact cleaner (again) and things seem to have stabilised, though I am using the A500 PSU with the A1200.

Once the new caps come I'll try again with the A1200 PSU.

I'm just hoping you have a lot less hassle with the A500...

No worries, but please give me some time.

I have to take out my GW from the closet, find my 3.5" floppies and take a screenshot of the settings.

Oh, and BTW, I have the following PSU for my AMIGA 1200:

It works really great even with a TF1260 fitted.
