Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
Working from home today, good job because that was quick, and two Falcon packages at once, woohoo!

Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
Before I put the booster in my Falcon030 I have to rebuild the PSU which I'm not looking forward to. (I don't have a good track record with PSU refurbs.)
I read about Falcon030's getting killed by PSUs and so bought the refurb kit from Exxos.
Maybe I'll ask the technician at work to do it. Chuck him a box of beer or something.

I wimped out and bought the exxos PSU for the Falcon...both as the lazy way out but also much cooler running (so that will help when I can afford the accelerator at some point in the future)alexh wrote: Tue Jul 04, 2023 4:55 pm Before I put the booster in my Falcon030 I have to rebuild the PSU which I'm not looking forward to. The Exxos PSU is certainly much cooler running. Suits you, sir.JezC wrote: Tue Jul 04, 2023 8:47 pm I wimped out and bought the exxos PSU for the Falcon...both as the lazy way out but also much cooler running (so that will help when I can afford the accelerator at some point in the future)

Not to mention the much higher output capacity - again, ideal for an expanded/accelerated bird...Badwolf wrote: Tue Jul 04, 2023 8:52 pm The Exxos PSU is certainly much cooler running. Suits you, sir.

I like it so much I bought another one to use in my STF/M/STE's (and H4/H5 boards) while repairing/restoring them too!
Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
Aye, fitting another one is one of those 'on my list' items.JezC wrote: Tue Jul 04, 2023 9:58 pm I like it so much I bought another one to use in my STF/M/STE's (and H4/H5 boards) while repairing/restoring them too!
They're also a great anti-theft device -- if you fit them to two machines no thief will be able to carry off both!

Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
Mine arrived yesterday. Many thanks. It will be a few weeks before I can refurb the power supply and fit it.
I did know that Exxos sold replacement power supplies. But I was thinking I might fit a CT6x in the future which requires a different PSU solution.

Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
In case anyone is wondering, I'm just using a recapped falcon PSU. Though I've also fitted my voltage tweak PCB so I can set the voltage to 5.1v as mine was running about 4.8v before.
Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
My Falcon's PSU is still stock too (recapped on video), so all my DFB1 dev has been on that. Exxos PSU is not a requirement for the accelerator.exxos wrote: Wed Jul 05, 2023 10:25 am In case anyone is wondering, I'm just using a recapped falcon PSU. My Exxos supply is in my STE, but it *is* nice and cool and one for my Falcon is the the to-do.

Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
A couple people said to me in PM that they are waiting for payday. Which is fine of course and understandable.
There are still currently 9 in stock. So I don't think they are going to sell out for a while now anyway, as the initial "boom" seems to have now gone.
