DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
put a cable tie round the socket @exxos that'll hold it in place and probably work forever and a day.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

Doesn't it need to appear to be a bodge wire to satisfy the @exxos ethos?PhilC wrote: Mon Jul 03, 2023 4:11 pm put a cable tie round the socket @exxos that'll hold it in place and probably work forever and a day.

I already have a bodge wire planned for future updatesJezC wrote: Mon Jul 03, 2023 4:30 pm Doesn't it need to appear to be a bodge wire to satisfy the @exxos ethos?
Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
@JezC I guess you could melt a bodge wire into the crack and fix it that way?

Hot glue stick guns are the tool for some of us
Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
It would need pvc cerment to glue it. But it would end up on the contacts and bugger it totally then. So I don't think glue is a good idea.
Though I may keep that board as I still need a test rig to test CPUs somehow yet. So I may end up removing a socket anyway.

Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

The DFB1X has arrived safely.

Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
Sadly I'm going to have to give this batch a miss. Won't bore with the details but our work has put us in notice that there could be layoffs.
So unfortunately I need to be sensible and save my money until work is sorted.
