100% it is, but no good if the resin won't set. If it does set then potentially it might be usable and it may be possible to graft the old key stem onto it, as I have those for the missing keys.

I do have some quite thick epoxy glue, and that may work, I'm considering trying it later, but for now, work...

I did find a way to prevent the top of the mould floating though:

When closed it puts enough pressure on the top of the mould to hold it down, but without distorting it. I added holes to allow any air to vent.

I have also decided to punch some small air vents through the top half of the mould to be sure there is no trapped air and the resin can get into all the corners.

I'll just use the needle off a syringe to do that so the hole is fine enough for air to escape.

We'll see. I have enough mould making material to have lots of attempts so we'll see where it goes.

@rubber_jonnie

It might be worth trying this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/389689962465

The price could be a bit lower, but you can make an offer.

Good find, though it has none of the keys I need 🤣

Thats not to say they couldn't be repurposed, however they are a bit on the expensive side if you include shipping.

Nonetheless going on my watch list :)

If it's still there on Payday, so 8 days time, I may go for it :)

I have just moulded another key using epoxy adhesive, so much thicker than the resin I used (Which is still soft BTW) and that should be set pretty soon as it's a 5 minute epoxy, however I won't de-mould it until after lunch as it's supposedly cured in an hour.

I had the idea I could pop my broken key posts into the mould and then it would potentially use the old key post for the new key.

Needs to have the moulding process fully figured before I do that though.

OK, so freshly demoulded with no fettling at all:

Quite please with the result as after filling in the bubble and a bit of sanding I think it'll look quite good. The colour isn't actually half bad either.

I need to see if I can get the internal ribs to form a bit better, at least the pair that prevent key rotation.

Thanks.

I think it'll be workable for sure.
