I get that 100%, and it would be easy to set up, but not my call, it's @mrbombermillzy 's all I'm doing is fixing up connections and verifying operation.

By the time I'm done it should be possible to just plug in any IEC device and have it work, it's just unfortunate the the SD2IEC he sent me is dead. If I get time I will see if I can re-program the bootloader before I head off on my holidays on Sunday, but I'm not sure my TL866 II Plus is suitable for the job, though it does have an ICSP port that is possibly comparible.

@mrbombermillzy

We talked about the video quality of the modded board, and I managed to find an SVideo cable as it turns out one of my displays, next to the workbench, has SVideo in. Im not surprised as it has practically every input you might want, so SVideo, Composite, VGA and HDMI/DVI, it's quite impressive.

Anyway, the SVideo quality is much better than the composite and the colours look 'right', so I don't think I would muck about with the video connections. It looks like there has been a resistor mod to it for better composite, but I tried with and without and TBH there was little to choose between the two.

The composite just isn't great, so if you're using SVideo then you're all good.

I'll bet I can :)

So what I'll do next, and it depends when the parts arrive, is fit an IEC socket in place of your SD2IEC that doesn't work, and I'll wire it up and test with my SD2IEC card. It works with my C64 and VIC-20, so I have no doubt it's going to work via the socket as long as I wire it up right :)

Oddly there hasn't been much post, and I am awaiting some odds and sods like the socket, so I'm not hopeful that it'll be done before I go away.

Otherwise I think it's all good really, everything apart from the SD2IEC is working.

I had a look and i'm not sure I have a suitable ISP programmer, though my TL866 II Pro may work, the main problem is that your SD2IEC doesn't have the ISP pin functions on the silkscreen so I'd need to find a way to ID them.

A bootloader reflash and up to date firmware may be just the ticket.

Thanks. That will give me options (including using real floppies/transfer from floppy to SD, etc).

Thats great news.

Like I said before, if you are happy to troubleshoot and you think it may have a happy ending then; thank you, but please dont feel you have to.

Going back a bit, did you have a look at the Kawari RGB output mod while you were tinkering? :)

Will have a think about what to do, the lack of a suitable programmer does limit my options.

I didn't look at the Kawari RGB TBH, just standard composite and HDMI. If you want me to look I can but probably not until I get back now.

Yeah, busy trying to get work handovers done now and will be busy over the weekend prior to travelling on Sunday.

I will be on the forum whilst away but not as frequently and won't be doing anything practical for 2 weeks or so.
