Re: Modifying a C64DTV or two
So next I’ve got rid of the joystick base and fitted a temporary battery box. The board runs on 3.3 volts, so uses a led of all things to reduce the voltage from 6v to 3.3v. I’ll replace that with a proper 3.3V regulator shortly.
Then I’ve carried out the S-Video mod which entailed removing C10 and soldering wires either side of it for chroma and luma. Unfortunately I managed to pull the two pads where the capacitor sat clean off the board, so I’ve connected them to the two resistors upstream in the circuit. (Blue & green wires at the top).
It looks better clarity-wise now but needed me to reduce the brightness on my S-Video to VGA adaptor.

It tends to start looking a bit messy when you start to connect up the wires for joysticks and so on but so far I've set up player one joystick which works great and is certainly an improvement over the original built in one.
Essentially what I’m doing at the mo is getting everything working and then after that I’ll make up all the extra interface stuff to get it to go into whatever case @mrbombermillzy wants.

Re: Modifying a C64DTV or two
So I've hit a bit of a brick wall with this project. Everything has seemed to work until I tried to get the keyboard up and running. I connect this to the two Tp3 & TP4 pads but using the stops of the resistors connected to them as it says in just about every website but with no luck.
Scoping these connections shows that the keypresses to send data but for some reason it does nothing.
@mrbombermillzy is sending another DTV to me, so hopefully when I connect the keyboard to that one FIRST then it'll work. Will have to wait and see.
