There is also fine metal/stainless wire mesh you can heat up and sink down in the plastic from the back. Fine metal rods can also be heated up and pushed in the plastic from the back to strengthen cracks. Check 'plastic welding on YouTube' as well for tips.

Indeed, and I have seen plastic repair guns on Amazon - Plastic repair gun

I'm not sure how well it would work with Atari plastics or complex shapes though, as it seems more directed at cars.

I agree. I have to add that I have not used it myself on an Atari case. But the strength it archives seems very good. But, as always, you will need filler material and sand, sand and sand to get it to look good. Oh, did I mention that you need sanding as well? ;)

You might have mentioned sanding once or twice, but I think you got away with it...

When I modified my STacy's case for the 1.44 HD floppy upgrade, I did this and it seemed
to turn out okay. I would imagine that you could use it for other plastic-based repairs...

I'm desperately trying to resist that Fawlty Towers reference.........

One of my other weaknesses is Action Force and Action Man toy. I've repaired a lot of rifles and Helicopter skids etc using steel rods if there is enough meat to drill and glue. Cut the heads of nails or use spent rivet shafts and it will be stronger than it was.
