Re: 1.44 floppy mod Assembly guide?
Er...already finished. Umm, I've got a couple of pictures after I got finished.
The pages you linked to were very helpful. The instructions on what to solder first
(outer strip, then the socket, then the inner strip) were spot on. Nothing was really
"tricky" except (for me) the soldering side of it. Between the pictures and your
pointers, it's actually pretty straight forward.
Of course, I can't really check my work though until I open my STacy back up and replace
the old (non-functioning) 1.44 HD floppy mod with yours.
Thanks for all the help - appreciated.

I have a BennVenn screen in my Lynx 2 and it's bloody brilliant, as is the Lynx GameDrive from RetroHQ. I tend to run my own Lynx 2 off batteries, but I like the look of that USB upgrade.Darklord wrote: 07 Dec 2022 17:07
PS Those mods to the Lynx totally change how I use it now!

There's another route to take, as far as dealing with the batteries goes, Songbird sells this:rubber_jonnie wrote: 09 Dec 2022 10:38I have a BennVenn screen in my Lynx 2 and it's bloody brilliant, as is the Lynx GameDrive from RetroHQ. It uses USB on one end and plugs directly into the Lynx's original power port. No soldering or disassembly required!

Re: 1.44 floppy mod Assembly guide?
Just wanted to report back on this...
I had planned on putting the 1.44 HD floppy upgrade into my STacy,
replacing a previous mod by Ralcool that had been there for years,
that had just recently started acting up.
Unfortunately, after taking the STacy apart for some other upgrades,
it's looking like there's just not enough room to fit it under the internal
Ultrasatan setup I have.
I'll hang on to it for now though - who knows, there might be some other
ST just looking for a 1.44 HD floppy upgrade, somewhere down the road.
:)

Hmm, I believe that's the same one? When I bought mine it came as a "kit".HigashiJun wrote: 27 Jun 2024 07:29 @Darklord
Maybe worth trying the SMD version then ?

The board plus components that I had to solder into place...
Thanks for the suggestion though, appreciated. :)
