There are things like this..

https://www.ghacks.net/2022/03/09/amd-r ... %2C%202022.

AMD says that it is working on fixing the Ryzen stuttering issues, the bad news is that it is going to a while for it to arrive. The chipset maker will provide a system BIOS update to patch the fTPM performance issues, and expects a fix to be available in early May, 2022. The microcode for the firmware will be based on AMD AGESA 1207 or newer.

Something else which is annoying, is my new 2TB drive keeps "clicking" like it's powering up / down all the time. The seek error rate keeps going up as well

This is why I don't build new PC's :(

I have a disk that does that too, when I click on the D drive it waits about 5 secs before it spins up and then I can access it. Then after an hour or so it sleeps. Then when I access it, the same thing happens...I think its a power/sleep mode of sorts

This "clicks" every 10 seconds or so. I can't find any settings to sleep or not. On my old PC I put them into sleep after 10mins, but don't remember where settings were now.

@exxos clicking every 10 seconds doesn't sound good to me. Do a backup from the drive just in case.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

Yep.. oddly it *is* the backup drive

The stuttering seems to be solved by turning off CBS crap in the BIOS. Will post in my blog about it later.

Sometimes you can define it in the power options.
There is a work around by using an app called NoSleepHD which prevents the disk from sleeping by writing a 0 byte file to it..

Had not heard of that thanks.

I formatted and did a surface test. Seems fine. I poked around in SeaTools and currently its not clicking now..

Powerdown is set to 5mins.. so will see if it starts again..

Seems to be more stuff with this drive as we..
What Does Power-Up In Standby (PUIS) Mean? Power Up in Standby (PUIS) is a specific hard disk drive (HDD) feature that allows the drive to spin up only when necessitated by a command, rather than when turning on the computer. This helps save energy or allows staggered spin-up times for multiple disk drives.
The advanced power management appeared as an option in the hard disk drives supporting ATA/ATAPI-4 or higher standard. Change of its value from 1 to 254 allows regulating the performance of the HDD and, thereby, to save energy of power supplies

I wrote a bit more on my blog to bring this to the conclusion viewtopic.php?p=89752#p89752

I also found out that CPUID HWmonitor was the reason for the hard drive to constantly be clicking  I did run a in depth sector scan on my hard drive and it all passed fine. So it has been put back in service as my main backup drive now.
