Hi can someone help me with the SDmapper cant get it to work i got new sdcard and tryed to partition it with msx but no luck,
then i made the partition with my pc to fat16 and when i try to run sofarun it just says my A: is write protected.
Same thing happens if i write readymade image to my SDcard, sofarun tryes to run game but it just complains about the write protected A: drive.

In my experience there are 2 issues you can have if it reports it's write protected.
  • The write protect tab has been knocked to 'on' during insertion of the SD card.
  • The SD card doesn't get on with the SD Mapper.
So the first is easy to check, the second is a case of trying different SD cards until you get one that works. I had this same problem and changed SD cards and all was fine. I would say that I have had a lot more success using full size SD cards than micro SD cards in an adapter.

Also, be sure to use this image:

It's the latest one and the one I'm using right now in my SD Mapper/Megaram cartridge.

I tried the image no luck, tested with full size sdcards 1gb 2gb also with microsd card adapters 2gb 16gb, and write protect slider isn't the problem checked it first, if i erase card and make no partitions on it should it be visible in nextor fdisk i only get it visible when it is formated fat16.
also tried to make 16M partition on card and fdisk gives Error when creating partition 1 : write protected disk.

so it seems i have to find my every old sdcards and start experimenting with those.

The image is 4GB so won't work with any smaller cards, but yep, go for older cards, they seem to work better.

I have had a card fail on me in use, so was working fine, then started having write protect issues. Different/older SD cards seem to be better.

Thanks for the info i got it finally working i managed to find class4 4gb sdcards at my local shop and that did the trick.
mapper is now writing settings on sofarun and i can start enjoying the MSX, which i never had when it was the big thing,
my friend had one and we played at his house.
