Woah, that's odd. Shouldn't be any heat problem on the CPLD or RAM chip -- it ran happily here for hours. Your processor says 16MHz. D'ya reckon it's marginal?

I think it is likely to be the CPU. It has been kicking around my desk for ages. I got some new ones in a tube *somewhere* . But probably won't have time now to go look for them now, but will do Monday :)

*somewhere* I have some HC DIP CPUs...

Well it has passed the "inserting it by one pin offset and powering it up test". It still works! :thumbup:

I have had it running with a small fan blowing on the thing for the past couple of hours and it seems fine..

Well this was meant to have the dual purpose of an 'external' AltRAM board so the form factor was the decider for the DIP64.

Mind you, putting a PLCC68 socket on it would make it the direct reverse of the STE adapter board which has its own perverse attraction :P
