Yeah but that'd be horrible :) Up to you ultimately :)

Sadly not...though I do have a cousin who lives in Hinckley which isn't that far from Coventry if that is an option?
A very kind offer!BW I'm happy to fit a socket for you... I know I stopped 'doing services' but I worry about your Falcon :) Same @JezC ... If you live near the Midlands just come to my house and I'll do it for free. Or just send me your motherboards (not case etc, just motherboard. Maybe secured in its metal shielding for protection) This offer just for BW and Jez atm. Send/bring a socket if possible I don't have spares.
I'll speak to my cousin (it's a good excuse to speak to him...) & see if he's OK with helping out with this & get back to you. If not, I'll have to plan a trip down that way (the wider family occasionally meet up in Stratford) or hope we do organise that Exxoscon you suggested!
I'd certainly prefer to reduce/remove any risk of me killing my Falcon! ;)

Only temporary. :) I was, before you posted your advert, considering cutting the 5V pin anyway and patching in some kind of fat cap to try and keep my settings a bit longer.
I have an NVRAM configuration program in the auto folder, but 20s to get to NVRAM set and reboot again each time I power on was starting to get irksome.
