Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Re: General Stuff(tm)
Playing with the Sinclair QL this weekend, initially making a set of floppy images and FlashFloppy set-up for Neil from RMC so that he can demonstrate the machine in an up-coming video, but then being inspired to try out the BASIC fractal benchmark code from this week's "Adrian's Digital Basement".
Some interesting results:
QL (7.5MHz 68008) + Trump Card (RAM expansion): stock: 260 seconds, with the Lightning Fast-Math extensions installed: 191 seconds (36% speed-up)
QL + Super Gold Card (24MHz 68020 + RAM) with Lightning extensions: 19 seconds. (Just a tad faster

Going very, very slowly. I have so many other things to sort out in this place, so much so all other projects are pretty much on hold. Am finding with an old house as soon as you start a project it adds about 3 more with things you find.

Re: General Stuff(tm)
I'm feeling very tempted...
There's an Atari PTC1426 monitor on eBay, £100... so rather expensive and if it's anything like the one I originally had the display will be as soft as butter... and the timing doesn't work as I'll be away for two weeks... and it's collection only from London...
BUT... it's got the proper TT hugging stand!!!
Must resist! Hehe.

Re: General Stuff(tm)
Probably not much retro stuff from me for a while as my Dad's in hospital critically ill and it's not looking good.

Hope things work out better than you're fearing they might!
I've got my Mum over visiting for Easter & we spent over 7 hours at the hospital with her on Thursday night/Friday morning after she fell over & banged her head...fortunately nothing worse than a lot of bruises but lots of stress in the meantime.

Very sorry to hear that, I completely understand the situation after everything that happened in 2022. Thinking of you all.stephen_usher wrote: Sat Apr 08, 2023 7:33 pm Probably not much retro stuff from me for a while as my Dad's in hospital critically ill and it's not looking good.

Re: General Stuff(tm)
I hope she's ok, we're off to visit my wife's Mum in hospital tomorrow, she had only been back home 10 days before she had a fall and had to go back in. Both you and Stephen have my sympathies.JezC wrote: Sat Apr 08, 2023 10:01 pm![]()
