This started out as an experiment to see if ChatGPT could write a application based on what I wanted. It "sort of" did it. Though there were multiple head scratching mistakes in the code it generated initially which I spent a lot of time to fix them.
It also did not write exactly as you see it now. Original code was just barebones basically. I added in all the fancy bits one at a time to make it more aesthetically pleasing. Indeed ChatGPT also assisted with that code. ChatGPT's impression of what a resistor it was quite bizarre. So I had to design my own from scratch which took the bulk of the time.
Basically It saved of hours of googling as I could ask ChatGPT the questions instead. Normally when I am looking for code snippets on how to do things, I end up on websites where multiple people will just sit arguing over solutions where mostly nothing gets solved. As things are typically done across the Internet. ChatGPT provided me some solutions without having to read the pointless arguments or having to spend hours searching on Google for potential solutions.
In general it gave solutions to every problem but not always working ones. I could ask it for alternatives, so it does keep on trying. Though part of the problem was it did not understand the entire script I was writing which led to some confusion as to what it was supposed to be coding.
ChatGPT is also very good at taking the literal repetitiveness out of writing code. For example the resistor image I drew had all various dimensions and sizes etc. I asked it once to make the image half the size and also adjusting all the XY coordinates and sizes and it did exactly that. Ordinarily this would have taken me a fair few minutes to manually calculate and type in the corrections. As people know with my RSI, it would result in a lot of clicking and that could be potentially the only routine I could change in that day otherwise.
Overall it was just a fun experiment to see and the workflow progressed using ChatGPT as the resource rather than Google. I think overall ChatGPT has a lot of potential because it can work more towards your particular project rather than looking for code snippets of other people's projects on Google which might not directly relate to the project I am currently working on.

It should be pretty functional as far as I know. I'm not aware of any bugs but there could be some somewhere :shrug: I did have a lot of difficulty with the centring of the resistor image. There does not seem to be any way of wrapping it in a div and having it centre that way. But I did spend a lot of time puzzling. However it,but in the end, just sort of hardwired the location in. So potentially that could screw up somehow.
Anyway, if people like this a lot and use it, then I may consider a five band calculator. Realistically there are a lot of calculators out there to do all this stuff anyway. People like my "style" and I guess it would not take too much to adapt it to another colour band.,
