I prefer to run these tools under a VM. You avoid all these problem altogether.
Of course its not a good idea but there isnt a whole lot of choice. Its horrific to have to have multiple Vms just to program a CPLD. And I have this stuff setup on 2 Macs and 3 PCs. Plus that Xilinx programmer can be sulky via VMs.

I run the toolchain in WSL. But the programmer i need in native WIn10. So i'll keep using Impact native for as long as it works.

If anyone had a chip as good as the 9500XL series i'd probably switch to it.

I haven't tried myself, but I understand that for the purpose of programming (not for development) you can use Vivado Lab tool for cpld and legacy devices.

I remember reading that in some cases you might need to add a CSV file. Check this Xilinx article: https://support.xilinx.com/s/article/61 ... uage=en_US

That has fixed iMPACT, the Project Navigator (IDE), and the other Xilinx programs for me. I did not observe any immediate side-effects of my patch. Presumably, there could be problems when one loads files from a network share. (I have no idea why the Xilinx software enumerates network shares in the first place.)
I tried your DLLs last night. Back to working and no problems to report. Thanks for doing this! :)
