TF536 Installation W/RGB2HDMI

Post by Lamaman1971 »

Hi Folks,

I want to pop a 536 into my A500 but already use an RGB2HDMI - which I suspect in its default configuration will simply be in the way. Has anyone got a work around for this so they can be mounted up together?

Cheers

I just went to Google and typed in

TF536 RGB2HDMI

just like that, and the first 4 pages it found has solutions to this.

Please don't misinterpret my response as condescending, I am not intending to be, I just don't like to see people waiting for an answer when Google gave me an answer to your question in 0.37 seconds

I see your point and am also guilty of reacting the same way on a number of occasions. Let's look at this from a few different perspectives.

* It's more difficult & time consuming to actually engage with a forum and ask a question, so from the users perspective they've 'worked' quite a bit to just ask the question. You have to ask the question why? Well I guess there are two reasons, one could be that the user just isn't pre-disposed to research, could be a lack of knowledge of how search engines work and how best to get results from them - you'd be surprised how many people don't know how to get good results from a search engine. It could also be that they are assuming (possibly rightly so) that people on the forum of interest are interested in talking about the topic, so asking the question may pay off.

* In the time it took for you to Google the result and then write the performance results of your Googling, you probably could have just linked the OP to some explanations. I know, give a man a fish, teach a man to fish ... etc, but this isn't survival, it's just a tech forum.

* If everyone just Googled stuff, nobody would ever ask questions. And if nobody ever asked questions, there would be no Google results to find! What a quandary! :D

Hi Folks,

@matt020 For clarity, as you clearly don't re-read your responses, your answer was - in fact - condensing and disappointing. For a moment there I thought I had posted on the EAB. How I laughed.

I am quite impressed that both previous responders spent so much time "responding" and no one thought to express an opinion one way or another.

So, just to clarify, I was rather hoping to glean some opinions as to what's considered to be a reliable, up-to-date solution from folks on the Exxos Forum. As kindly pointed out, there are lots of google search results but wanted to get some feedback on here as previously its has been a great place to get a considered response from folks that, generally, understand the whole problem from both an end user and builders perspective.

I'm going to get a smack on the wrist for taking this off topic and for continuing it off topic, but I've been smacked many times in life and I'm still around, sooooooooooo.....

I disagree with the notion that users would have worked quite a bit before asking the question. I think, in most cases, that it's just easier to post the question and let someone spoon feed the answer. I believe that in most cases, and I mean a large majority of cases, they just go straight to a forum or social media group and post the question and await someone to tell them step by step. I mean, why would you Google and search for your own answer if people out there are going to give it to you step by step. The problem with this is ; the art of searching by search engine is lost.

To your second point, in that the time it took me to Google and post my reply I could have just provided his answer.... but that's what (most) people are hoping for (or, are EXPECTING), why Google for something when I can just post on a forum or social media group and someone will give me the answer, all laid out pretty for me to follow.

In this example, a question was asked where the answer is out there, and found very easily, and if any Google work was done before hand, he/she would have seen very quickly what the solution was. The fact that I found the answer so quickly tells me that no work was done before hand.

Hi @matt020 ,

You might disagree with the notion that folks might have done some pre-work but in this instance you would be wrong. In seeking guidance in here the intention was to qualify a bunch of google search results through feedback from folks in here and make a good decision - perhaps obtaining a few ideas that I missed or were not present in the google search.

So, just for clarity - there seem to be several solutions kicking around right now - the first is to stack the accelerator on a bunch of extension pins like the Eiffel tower to clear the RGB2HDMI or to solder one or more components to reduce the height or to use an extended RGB2HDMI adaptor (which looks, on the face of it, to still be in the way).

So there you go - that was why I was asking. I didnt include the results of my searching as I wanted to try and understand if there was something I missed by not leading the dialog with a shortlist.

@matt020 In my experience, responses like yours are why these boards get a bad reputation - which is a shame tbh.

Ok enough... Your original post should have included that you'd searched and wanted to know of peoples experiences doing this rather than..

Because that question was answered by @matt020. If you wanted a better answer ask a better question.

Locking the topic.
