I've got some of that sticky carbon sheet somewhere. Can mash up anything to anything with that stuff.stephen_usher wrote: 18 Jul 2022 22:30 I s'pose a block of metal between the top of the chip and the upper case would be the best heatsink, as there's no airflow inside the case.

Re: exxos blog - random goings on
The new HDMI box, while it outputs nice video to my monitor I cannot capture video with the HDMI to USB adapters. I have tried three adapters now none of them work. So I tried the previous HDMI box which only worked with composite, and then the USB video again appeared very dimly. So the USB dongle *does* work.
Now I have different hardware with different problems which just do not seem to be compatible with each other
1) SCART TO HDMI (first box) is composite only but works with the USB dongles. but my H5 does not output composite video.
2) SCART TO HDMI (second box) is proper RGB but only works directly plugged into my monitor. Does not work with three USB dongles.
Cannot exactly blame one thing or another because different situations either work or don't work
:dizzy:  :comp:

Re: exxos blog - random goings on
Had the idea to try the Phoenix shifter as it outputs HDMI video.
On my monitor I get a very nice picture.
And I sort of get video on the PC now :pullhair:
You ever get the impression the entire world hates you and is against you

Re: exxos blog - random goings on
I tried rebooting the H5 several times but the video did not change. So I put back the previous HDMI to USB adapter and now I get proper video! Crazy!
Is good enough for the time being but unfortunately we have not had a chance to integrate audio into the Phoenix shifter :( Does not really help as I need to test with machines as well.
So currently there does not seem to be a perfect solution for getting scart over to the PC

You have the v2 which is why you are seeing some issues, need to get you a v4 as those have a few fixes in them.exxos wrote: 22 Jul 2022 11:10 Had the idea to try the Phoenix shifter as it outputs HDMI video.
