Ribbon from Atari to C-LAB UNITOR?

Post by Cosmic Puppet »

Since I have to move detach the unit to clean my Atari. I have an idea of a ribbon cable that goes from UNITOR to the Atari. The unit could just be placed next to the Atari with a short cable that is just long enough to allow you to place UNITOR on top of the Atari so I can move it to clean the table.

Anyone got any ideas how this could be achieved?

Which ribbon cable and ends would I need?

I actually have a high quality ribbon crimping tool, as my new old stock Atari had a knackered floppy cable with no back on the crimp end.

*EDIT* Already realising one end would have to be a flexible ribbon type like on the exxos ram upgrade and one needs to be like the Atari port connector.

Maybe something like this although one end would have to be PCB that slots in like on the Atari USB power plug ins.

Basically a cable running from this:

To the cartridge port of the Atari.

So like the ultrasatan can be perched on top of the atari with its long ribbon cable. I could do the same with UNITOR when I need to move the Atari.

So I guess it's a port extension cable.

Taken me weeks to even mention this.

Ah.. Not sure I ever seen such a thing. Might be one of those things which might stop working when a cable is added. Such as things tend to do

You could make a buffer board for the cartridge port and they do exist but rare. Since a cartridge port it self is rare to get and to make an "extension cable" I don't think someone will make this. Some put their Atari in different cases so they needed to move the port, so I think it was that it was used for originally.

Maybe it was @frank.lukas who had one of these board for sale?

EDIT: What a memory: HERE
