Falcon old NVRAM up-cycling

Hey all,

As I've replaced a few Falcon NVRAM chips over the years but I never throw away the originals, so I just decided to see how neatly I could 'up-cycle' them to be usable again.

With this I used the Motorola variant and I'm quite happy, it looks rather neat and tidy.

What do you guys think?

You split the original right (it seems so)? Otherwise you don't need a new crystal?

That's the original crystal, no change. All I did was add the battery holder.

Luckily with the Motorola type it's sealed with a type of rubber-jelly which was easy to cut out, just messy. I'd say the Moto version is perhaps the no1 version worth 'up-cycling' without too much hassle. The ST Micro versions are the second easiest because the crystal is on one side and the battery on the other, just cut the top in half and pull the battery side off. the Dallas is by FAR the hardest (im doing one right now) as it is a similar configuration to the Moto but they don't use a soft-jelly fill, they use some serious hard concrete epoxy.
