From the thread that picture with the missing pixels is a BenQ BL702A, not the Dell SE2722H.mikro wrote: 14 Feb 2022 07:59 Have they solved this brilliant picture quality of that particular LCD? (sorry didn't read the whole thread...) Otherwise I'll pass, thanks ;-)

Yes, not reading anything but the first page of a 6 page message thread leads to errors like this. :)mikro wrote: 14 Feb 2022 07:59 Have they solved this brilliant picture quality of that particular LCD? (sorry didn't read the whole thread...) Otherwise I'll pass, thanks ;-)
That picture was taken from the 22" and 24" sized model of the 27" monitor I was referring to.
People were hoping that since they were getting such great results with the 27" version that
the smaller models would work as well. Unfortunately, they do not.
Reading the entire message thread reveals that people who have bought the 27" model are very
pleased with the results. On the BBS's, a handful of people have bought them as well and their
reports are positive as well.

Re: New monitor for my STE
Check again my friend :D, that picture is not referring to the 22 and 24 inch versions of the Dell (which btw do not work at all in ST Med or Low - I know as I bought a 24 inch to test out and it only works in ST High and even then with not so good results) but instead the picture is from the BenQ model from my post above yours. The 27 inch Dell SE2722H however, has very good picture quality on all ST modes (I bought 4 of them and all work great - they replaced my old NEC EA190M monitors I was using).Darklord wrote: 14 Feb 2022 18:00Yes, not reading anything but the first page of a 6 page message thread leads to errors like this. :)mikro wrote: 14 Feb 2022 07:59 Have they solved this brilliant picture quality of that particular LCD? Ah, apologies. I was thrown by the start of that particular message:TheNameOfTheGame wrote: 14 Feb 2022 20:22 Check again my friend :D, that picture is not referring to the 22 and 24 inch versions of the Dell (which btw do not work at all in ST Med or Low - I know as I bought a 24 inch to test out and it only works in ST High and even then with not so good results) but instead the picture is from the BenQ model from my post above yours. "Dell SE2422H and 2222 are from the same series, just smaller, perhaps they will work too."
I missed the part after that where the OP stated the screen shots were actually from the
monitor you mentioned. Thanks.
Original assessment stands though, as you indicated - the 27" monitor is a solid choice for
ST users... :)

I stand corrected then. On the other hand, I can't imagine looking at such huge pixels, it would ruin the demo/game experience for me for sure. :-/ (I have my Ataris on desks, not in a living room ;-))

Re: New monitor for my STE
Well, it depends on expectations I guess. Obviously it won't be like a CRT display but it looks great to me - but then again I was good with the old NEC EA190M monitors I was using (even for games). These Dells are better imo (no "squished" or "missing" vertical font pixels on the desktop icons and windows and nice bright display) with the exception they don't have the built-in speakers. And they can be used in 16:9 (although stretched) or 4:3 aspect ratio modes so no black bars around the desktop if that bothers someone (I use the 4:3 since I don't like the stretching). Another thing I like about the Dell is how light it is. It is even lighter than those 19" EA190Ms even though they are 27" monitors.mikro wrote: 15 Feb 2022 08:58 I stand corrected then. Huh. I recon that JUST the stand on my 1990FXp weighed more than my IBM P275 21" CRT! :lol:TheNameOfTheGame wrote: 15 Feb 2022 14:59 It is even lighter than those 19" EA190Ms even though they are 27" monitors.

I too like my SC1224's. Especially the JVC model that I have on my Mega STe.mikro wrote: 15 Feb 2022 08:58 I stand corrected then. Just beautiful...
I tell ya though, now that I've just turned 60, and the 'ole eyes ain't what they
used to be, a larger monitor is very appealing. :)

Re: New monitor for my STE
Tried a lot of tweaking on this NEC multisync but there is no way to get a nice MED RES mode whatever you do.
I guess I will give a try to the Dell monitor TheName OfTheGame was talking in his previous post, even if it does not have integrated speakers...

To be honest guys rather than trying to find the most compatible monitor you're probably better off just getting a decent SCART/VGA scaler and then you can just use whatever monitor you want, no hassles.
These days you can get one of those GBS scalers with GBS-CONTROL enabled which is absolutely stunning, performs on-par with expensive options like the OSSC or Retrotinks. I made my own GBS-Control. I mean, just check out that medium res quality.
