FSALE: 2x Short ST's both upgraded to 4MB & socketed CPU

Post by Steve »

Hi guys,

I fixed/serviced a couple of short ST's (the original before floppy drive/psu was enclosed) and am selling them.

* Both include original PSU re-capped with top-spec Panasonic caps (they are both UK 240v)
* Both are in good cosmetic condition with only a little yellowing
* Both have been upgraded to 4MB of ST-RAM (agranlund design) So none of that dodgy marpet plug rubbish, solid and reliable soldered directly into the motherboard.
* System B had both it's PLC sockets replaced with brand new 'funky' adaptors from Exxos store, as the originals were faulty.
* Both system A & B have had it's line driver chips socketed & replaced
* Both systems have been re-capped
* On both machines many of the sockets have been replaced with new double leaf sockets for reliability
* Both systems have socketed CPU and Shifter - to make it easy for a user to make future upgrades (Cloudy/Stormy/Rainy usb/ide/altram? Pi-RGB? Maybe Pi-Storm if it gets Atari support? Etc you get the idea!)
* Keyboards fully working nice and clean
* Both systems have original TOS
* Both systems fully tested for stability
* Both systems fitted with full shielding (not pictured)
* Note: These revision B models of ST do not provide 12v on the monitor output, making some VGA adaptors incompatible.

Payment accepted either by bank transfer, or paypal friends & family.

Even though there are literally weeks of work I put into these units, I'll only ask a low special price for the Exxos forum: £150 each (people are selling these for £200-300 on ebay with no servicing what so ever)

Please message in this forum thread to declare interest, as in: 'Declaring interest in System X' and I will PM you.

note: If you are international I do not accept any responsibility for the current state of international postage, the last item I posted to Germany took 3 months even though I paid for priority 3 day shipping.

Thank you, photos:

These look absolutely great -- I love the form factor of the short STs.

Alas I have neither the space to put nor the time to use one!

@Steve how did you get the PSU apart?
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

They're just glued, an since they're pretty old the glue is pretty brittle - you can just put a bit of pressure in between and it will 'crack open'. After cleaning/re-capping I glued them back together again.

Thanks. Mine seem to be still welded together.

Mine was glued. It did feel like it was welded but a bit of prising and as @Steve said it pops open - https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewt ... =673#p4532

They're not for sale, they're open source PCBs you can build yourself. You can find it here: https://github.com/agranlund/STRam

FYI I will be shortly listing these on eBay, I'd prefer to sell them here though so if anyone's interested message me. Will consider nearest offers too.

*Bump* These are still for sale *Bump*

I feel the prices are quite reasonable considering the work/service/upgrades in the machines? I'm asking £150 each. Someone on Ebay is trying to sell a short ST with no upgrades or service for £230 ... I've got these listed on Amibay too, but no bites yet.
