The great 68k socket shortage of 2020

Post by exxos »

Currently I am selling them at £3 each. But I've had a stock of them for a while anyway. But seeing as RS have them at £5 and farnell £8+ I suspect the supply is drying up. I am still hunting for branded sockets but I fear I'll not be able to keep the £3 price once stock dries up. Socket header strips are a alternative at least.

Mostly in terms of the remake boards and a lot of upgrades still WIP, I am wondering about just normal square pins and sockets and thinking of just moving away from the 68k sockets all together..

Will have to pay inflated prices   I have my minions looking for a supply. But even so, I doubt surplus stocks will last long. I'm not paying like £10 a pop x100 times over for example. Its cash I'm stood out of, and what profit margins would be.. Just not viable for me to sell them.

At first I thought "68k socket" was referring to "PLCC68" sockets, and was a bit puzzled...
