H5.. best donor?

Post by weav »

Long long time ST guy that has been dipping my toes into Amiga stuff lately for the TF fun..(never could afford back in the day).. just a question on what would be the best donor board for the H5? Have a virgin US 1040STE I have yet to crack open (no yellowing and even the floppy still works!) and sadly my old STF is gone. Not wanting to part out my STE. Is always a challenge in the US, but looks like I have a bit of time to round up donor parts for the H5. Wanting to build an ST machine to relive my fun in the demo days (without the STE issues).

So which flavor for a donor? Guessing doesn't matter? Hoping to go for the cheapest route for donor parts.

Thanks,
weav

STF / STFM are the best machines... STM's can work but sometimes have very early chips which are best avoided really.

Yes STFMs are good. H5 with bird speed is available in the store for pre-order. https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/atari/store2/#0199
