Greetings from Kent, UK

Post by DaveC »

Well my Atari STE 520 was my first computer, along with the Turbo Pack and I've recently had it returned to me in working condition. Included a working hard disk (probably wasn't a good idea taking it apart to see if the power supply with it could be updated but not a massive lose either,) My 5 year old instantly showed an interest so would be good to keep it in a working state.
I'm still waiting for the all my floppy disks to be returned. But for the time being I've just received a gotek that I'm going to update with flash floppy.

Looks like they'll be a fair bit of work to do, like recapping the PSU. It's already got 2mb of RAM but only has 2 SIMM slots on it. There's a lot of things that would be nice to try modding on it.

Well soldered some round pin sockets to my gotek as they were what I had laying around along with some jump connectors that'd fit in them.

Flashed the drive, plugged everything in and success.

I had to resort to using the RF output for display, my scart lead decided to stop working, no display and couldn't even hear the floppy drive seeking while booting. Guess I can't complain about a 30ish year old cable failing
