Re: Source of 68030 with MMU?
Thanks to the comments here, if you’re in the US, the gen-tel seller on ebay has several MC68030RP25Cs for less than $10, I ordered some and have been testing them. No issues so far at 50MHz that I can relate to the CPU, they’ve run cool, no fan max temps around 94F-102F (ambient ~73F) with heavy SDRAM use, around ~85F with chipram games, and they look unused. Latest 1F91C mask also used for RC50Cs, and with a date code of 2000 I’m hoping Motorola binned these the same by then..

Re: Source of 68030 with MMU?
I purchased from this seller right before the listing was taken down and just received mine today.
I carefully removed all the paint with acetone and, while the original markings are almost completely sanded off, fortunately the "B" suffix survived.
So this is one of the older 1μm rev Bs that won't be suitable for 50MHz.

Finally bit the bullet and bought four 33mhz ones from qsourceco_6. Again I stress that these CPUs are what's on their label, they are rev C with 0G40W mask that's 0.8 compared to the old 1.0 masks found in the older series so these are ideal for any 030 card running at 50mhz. At 24.5 usd they are a bargain.

@sugar That's where I got mine from too. Not only is it legit (no issues/excessive heat/crashing, MMU is in use), it also appears to be NOS.

Scratch that! The ceramic CPUs from qsourceco_6 are definitely resurfaced. I just got mine with some acetone and a cotton swab and well... It does run stable and cool, but no clue what it was originally, so cannot recommend for the price. Looks like they increased recently, too.

Re: Source of 68030 with MMU?
I haven't been having much luck with CPUs neither.
Out of 3x MC68030RP33's I have one that doesnt work at all, one that works fine but only if you disable the CPU caches either in boot menu or from startup-sequence. The other one works fine, but the kickstart screen flickers between the purple colour it should be and green, though it does boot.
So switch to trying to find an MC68030RC50. Got one that works fine, but they havent even done a good job at removing the original markings as you can still see it was originally an MC68030RC25B
If you get any like this from ebay you can open a return for it not being authentic and they either have to pay for the return and refund you, or more often than not they just refund and don't ask for it back.
I have found that many sellers are honest if you contact them and ask if it has been re-marked. I have had quite a few respond saying "Sorry but this has been re-marked, please do not buy if this is not ok", or similar. And those that say "This is genuine and original", and it turns out not to be, thats definite grounds for a return/refund.
I'll just be happy to find a reliable source regardless of them being re-marked

The image is not a closeup so I'm a bit confused of your findings. If there was no scratches and previous markings I think it's ok that the print comes off with acetone. If you look at the fake for instance in the next post the print has been chemically removed. Perhaps it's just that there is no closeup so I can't see previous markings on the cpu though :Dbnice7 wrote: 30 Aug 2020 02:10 Scratch that! Legitimate markings from the manufacturer are reasonably immune to solvents like acetone. Therefore if acetone easily dissolves the text, it’s a pretty safe bet it’s counterfeit.
