Re: WTB: Falcon DSP IC
I don't think so. Atari could have put in a large order for them, so they may look a little unique. I'm told that any ordinary QFP 68030 will work just fine but I'm yet to try it.
I have a Falcon I was working on during lockdown and the Freescale 68030 finally arrived, but our state is out of lockdown now and I have an attack of the lazies.
Perhaps when the "second wave" comes I'll tackle it. :D

Re: WTB: Falcon DSP IC
Perhaps you are right. Doug Little was looking at replacing the custom 68030 in the Falcon with the more standardised QFP version to see if its the same. (I cant find the thread at AF ATM).sety wrote: 22 Aug 2020 12:42I don't think so. Atari could have put in a large order for them, so they may look a little unique. Well, Im not going to argue, as Im no CPU package expert, but according to the info here:
https://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.p ... fp#p222904
the Falcon version was either designed as a controller for something else and re-purposed for the Falcon, or designed specifically for it.

Doesn't matter what Atari had stamped on the chip,' They are FE variants and very common, Replaced a few in my days, including my own Falcons. Check it out online MC68030FE. The Falcon will have 16's sometimes 20's installed. I have 33's in mine because I over clock the CPU with the Nemesis.mrbombermillzy wrote: 23 Aug 2020 12:48Well, Im not going to argue, as Im no CPU package expert, but according to the info here:
