UltraSatan SD Card file corruption.

So today I was working on music and things went pear shaped.

So...I had a look in the drives and saw this kind of thing:

Put the SD card in the PC and got this:

Then it finally gave up:

Had to go into windows disk management and delete the partitions and reformat.

Thankfully after copying a clone of my system (updated last night) onto the freshly formatted and repartitioned card everything was back to normal (though I had to rearrange autosort. Not sure when that got screwed up, but it was going through some things twice on startup)

Now everything's perfect. Now I have a second backup which will get overwritten occasionaly.

Without this foresight on my part I literally would have lost everything today!

So... this now explains a few weeks ago when a preloaded card from Lotharek's Lair which had games and demos, just wiped.

I've messeged him asking if I can by a PC version of the data but as of yet had no reply.

I was really enjoying the demos on the NEC Multisync.

I'm using PP Driver. I'm going to buy HD Driver soon and see if I still get the same file corruption over time...

Never get to chill, something always ruins it.

What ST exactly ? have you done all the fixes etc on it ? Dirty SD contacts can also trash it along with bad PSU.

A 520STFM

The PSU has been recapped. The SD contacts look clean.

Bad US PSU can also cause it. Plus the STFM still needs DMA fixes doing.

Once I've moved all my files off the PC Logic and finished some projects I'll try to find someone who I can pay to do the work.

I'm going to be moving so it's not the best time.

I'm going to have a card formatted and partitioned ready to go in the meantime.

I just had a similar experience with a ste trying to recover data from a protar drive wirh my ultsrsan. I replaced the cpu with a hc type. And checked the current draw with my bench psu units it worked perfect put the old psu back on and random garbage again. I then but some of exxos ram in and problem solved. It looks like the bus needs the extra current in it's old age time to put new sips in. The psu had be recapped. So i think as these st age the parts go out of spec and turn more of the signals to heat. And random errors

It would be good to have someone make sure all the voltages are right to everything. I'd be willing to have every cap on the board replaced if it made it awesome.

This cpu is still around in a dip package Hitachi HD68HC000CP12 i dont know if it would help
