bartekmalysz says hello

Post by bartekmalysz »

Hi all,

Took me a while to get proper introduction , but here we go:

I'm 34, Polish, but living in UK for almost 10 years now and frankly not intending to go back (just started application for nationalisation).
By day I work as an AWS cloud data engineer for one of the biggest banks in UK, by night I'm hoarding, restoring and selling all things retro from consoles to computers. I have mild autism and ADHD, by accident I found repairs and tinkering as a great way to easy anxieties and focus my mind on something I like, but also a good way to fund my hobbies and collect what I need.

I like to work on machine learning projects or the ones involving raspberry pi / arduino, but to due to medical condition I can't do precise, manual work (like soldering), so never got far beyond a breadboard prototypes. Currently in my possession, but looking to expand:

Atari 1040STE x3
Atari 520STFM
Commodore 64c
Amiga 500
Amiga 600
Amiga 1200 x 2
Comodore CDTV x3
Commodore C286
Commodore C386SX-LT
NES
N64
PS1
PS3
PS3
Gameboy (DMG)
Gameboy Advance
Gamegear
Megadrive 2

Welcome!

You are missing Acorn computers from your collection.

Hi and welcome, you might be interested that I just finished modding a NES (for myself)
* fully re-capped
* NesRGB board installed
* Opposite to what they say, I socketed both the CPU and PPU. This just required removing some plastic from the base of the unit for the increased chip height. Reason being, so I can easily change between PAL or NTSC by swapping chips.

Can't you just do jumper wires to disable chip? This way you can play all regions without need to open it up.

PM with details of your mod, interested in what you got there.
