Good to hear! Glad it is being sorted! And glad it has a socket! Chances are just that 68K being moany at 50Mhz. I've had a few like that myself, that run fine at 40Mhz but not 50!

I'm sure the board was fine when it left me. I test in three different 500 revisions for a minimum of 4 hours in each before posting out.
I have seen the problems before that he has said he is getting like the graphical glitches and I suspect if it's not the CPU, it is a poorly seated custom chip, most probably the Agnus.

Maybe there's a RAM fault on that 500! They can be real gits when the RAM starts to play up on some of those 500s! The OKI chips I've had lots of wierd faults with - like one single faulty bit at one address that is random.

To be fair, I am half hoping the CPU has gone tits up, as it's a simple fix.
Anything else is going to be a shit-show to diagnose for an end user.

You’re not wrong there! Especially as sometimes, stock unexpanded Amigas can be perfectly functional but as soon as a new component is added, all sorts of issues turn up.

Anyhow, this story seems to have a semi-happy ending, thanks for posting here Paul and explaining the full story.

@PaulJ_2.0 if you find that chip is intermittently sulky please send it to me and i'll see if i can look at whats going on. I've not had sulky chips yet so I wanna get my hands on one to see if i can solve the issue so we can use more of these lower end chips.

I can probably get one out to you tomorrow, I am soak testing one at the moment and it's just started complaining.
I will double check everything is soldered nicely, if so you can gladly have it.

@PaulJ_2.0 I've had a few silky ones which turned out to be cpu pin related. After cleaning etc they've worked, so might be worth a try?

If you haven't got an ultrasonic cleaner it's worth getting.

Ah yeah it's all minty fresh, good advice though for sure.

I am testing on F/A 18 Interceptor in WHDLoad, which as anyone that's run it knows, will crash nicely unless your hardware is all working tip top.
I think my Denise caused the problem as I broke the socket and it needs a little special treatment. It seems to be fine now though. We shall see :)
