TF1260 / TF360 Weirdness with OS3.9 (AKA Why i'm not releasing them just yet)

Post by terriblefire »

Myself, @supaduper and @chucky and Ravi Abbott have each installed OS3.9 with the TF360 and TF1260...

Oddly it seems that by default on the 128Mb Ram (alliance) you get a purple screen with a clean install.

With 64mb you get a normal boot. v odd.

I tweaked a few things and got it working for me and booting reliably on 128Mb. The fix was to set TCI to 0 until autoconfig was completed.

However this didnt fix it for @chucky. He still has issues. I did a trace of how the TCI line works on the A3660 board and implemented that but it hasnt helped chucky.

However @supaduper noticed that setting

Code: Select all

SetPatch SKIPROMUPDATES "scsi.device" QUIET
fixes things for him. But that doesnt make any difference for me. For me its all about caches, for chucky it never works.

Also the Mediator 1200TX does not work at all with my TF1260. Its detected but the pci library finds about 128 instances of a nonsense card id.

This thread is to track the deep dive into this issue.

Was there some autoconfig trickery involved with the original idea of having 256mb on board?
I hope to get the TF360 but I guess I have to dig out the spare one as my main one has 3.9 roms ;)

I proved to myself that boards had to not change config area when RESET is asserted. otherwise purple screen.

But i guess this trickery is what i'm interested in.

Ok I have now manged to create the `Purple` screen problem which never happened for me only once.

Anyway it seems the problem is the good old CF card again Doh
.

the Sandisk on the left with the SKIPROMMODULES command works no problem

the Cheap China one on the right with exactly the same image..Purple screen

so can someone use a branded Cf with the C:SetPatch SKIPROMMODULES "scsi.device" QUIET line added in startup

I think this is one issue. I have been using SanDisk from the start so i've not seen the scsi.device issue.

However the other issue I saw was fixed by disabling the cache. I've given Chucky a cache disabled version to test.
