Hello from Bucks, UK

Post by LezRed »

Hello,

I've recently joined the forum whilst searching for adaptors to get a 520 STE I've recently acquired up and running. This the first Atari I've owned since I moved onto the C64 from my 2600 when I was 11 years old. After that I was an Amiga fan, first with the A600 and then the A1200 before moving to Win 98 and then GNU/Linux for home computing.

I started dabbling with old Amigas about 10 years ago with an A1200 and CD32 but then stupidly sold up in 2013 to raise funds for a new GPU or something  I wish I hadn't now since all that kit is now far too expensive to buy again. Instead last year I purchased a MIST, and A500+ and an old thin-client for FreeDOS and MSDOS games.

My 520 STE was the spare machine in a studio and as such is in very good condition and will soon have an UltraSatan arriving from Lotharek's Lair. The 17" 4:3 screen is a BenQ that is 15KHz capable so all ST screen-modes will be covered.

Alas, mine has never been that tidy...except for the first 10 minutes after it was set up after the last house move...and that was the time for it to be used to place other boxes on.

Since then the boxes have gone to be replaced by the usual clutter of electronics stuff (both retro & work-related)...plus the odd synth/expander. :?

Thanks for all the welcome messages. By this morning my orders from Exxos and Lotharek's Lair have all arrived. Despite work getting in the way I now have my STE hooked up with a ubeswitch, PeST mouse adaptor and an UltraSatan and working. Once work is out of the way I'll be able to get on with some proper testing :D
