RPi MT-32

All the talk about MIDI sound to a Roland MT-32 in the ScummVM thread has me interested. Not planning to buy a synth though, but maybe someone has experience emulating the MT-32? This project uses RPi. Not sure how complete it is yet.

Much easier is to buy a cheap USB2MIDI cable and use your Windows/Linux/Mac PC do the work. :)

Ideally I'd like to built it into some of my machines and just have it mux with the regular sound output. But an USB2MIDI cable should work fine with an RPi as well - meaning this would be a trivial build using MUNT.

Sounds like an interesting idea @troed , any chance you can document it if you get it working? I may have to give it a go in 1 or more machines if / when I get time.

That idea is awesome! I'd love something like that :)

I've got my ST hooked up to my Mac running MUNT but I'd rather have some kind nice of standalone box, or internal modification, that emulates an MT32. Well, I'd obviously would want a real one but they seem rather expensive nowadays :)

I have been thinking of using this guy as an internal modification but I'm hesitant about the sound quality.

Oh! This is kinda up my alley. Looking at the wavepi it shouldn’t be too much problem.

I know I’m two steps ahead, but I’m thinking “extending my cosmosex with this”.

Could be a nice summer project.

Hopefully there will be more for sale soon, looks like the initial order was to get some funds together and test the water. I have got one on it's way.
