Gotek Case Mod

Post by Cimmerian »

Hi

I made a USB Socket mount for the Gotek , so you can keep the Floppy Drive in place. Heavy modding is required to the Gotek, and of course a hole needs to be cut out for the USB socket in the Case lid. I eyeballed this and adjusted the design to fit.
For anyone else that might want to do this, I would get the part in place and mark where it would meet the case inside and drill a hole, then slowly file until you get it all looking good.

I moved the buttons also to the top case where the OLED is. I replaced connectors with JST where possible.

Here you can see how the Mount slides over the lip of the top shield:

The USB Socket is push-fit, A surface mount one will work best, it may require a little trimming.

Good Idea to put something underneath, Otherwise the wires may short on the Shielding. I put a litte Kapton here:

Its held firmly enough when the drive is screwed in place. I could add a screwhole to it with space for a Hex Nut if desired, so it could be screwed into the shield.

Note i'm working on the Internal mount for the Gotek PCB, so It's flapping the breeze in this photo. WIll post that when done.

Looking great! Mind showing us how you mounted the OLED in the top case?
