Is there any way to add RAM without physically installing it?

Post by Cosmic Puppet »

I like this set up but...

I noticed the drop down menus seemed slow in Notator, so I ran it from a floppy disk and it was fine.

I decided to run Gembench and compare EmuTos with TOS 1.04

As you can see from the System info, EmuTos is also using a great deal of RAM compared to the ROM chips.

Is there a way of freeing up RAM somehow? I also know that Notator is GEM based, and the GEM scores aint good. Maybe some sort of graphics boost can be added to EmuTos?

EMUTOS should be run with NVDI. Though that will eat up more RAM.

I'll try that though in case it's not a RAM problem as Notator is stated as being usable with 1 MB.

I can't find the download even when I'm in sourceforge. Where do I get this from?

I keep having the same insert disk 2 problem trying to install stuff. Have gotten 'round this before by copying disk 2 to a floppy disk, but this is to big to fit. Now I'm going to have to just switch off the machine as I am unable to insert disk 2. I'm not at all savvy with this sort of thing.

Trying your pre-setup one now. and it seems to be doing its thing "Unpacking archives ... Just wish I understood the whole disk thing.

Just use the "folder dump" installed version, no need to install it then.

Disk1 & 2 thing what (I think) what I fixed in my installer.. it was never geared up to be installed from hard drive. But the installer is just going to create the folder dump version I did anyway.

It's worked. The bench test made me laugh out loud!

Do I need to move WDIALOG .PRG up the list?

It's fixed the problem!!! Notator's drop down menus are actually faster than ever! Even with less than 3MB it performs amazingly, so it must have been the GEM. Pretty happy. This desktop doesn't feel much different from my windows 10 now! Amazing what the Atari is in 2019 thanks to the community of people putting so much into it. Thank you to all!
