Kodak80 H4F build
Re: Kodak80 H4F build
Good spot. Changed and boots to a green desktop now.
Re: Kodak80 H4F build
Okay, now some tests.
External Hard disk: tested and working
Internal Hard disk (20 pin): tested and working
Internal Hard disk (24 pin): untested
Internal Floppy: not working - drive motor activates, keyboard and floppy LED light up but nothing happens after that
External Floppy: not working - same result as internal drive
YM audio output: tested and working
MIDI output: tested and working
MIDI input: untested
Mouse: tested and working
Keyboard: tested and working
Video output 13 pin DIN: High res: tested and working
Video output 13 pin DIN: Low/Medium res: tested and working
Video output VGA: untested
Serial: untested
Parallel: tested and working - tested with PARCP USB file transfers
RTC: untested
Cartridge port: untested
4x Expansion ports: untested
Blitter: untested
Boot TOS rom: tested unjumpered: boots to TOS
Boot TOS rom: tested jumpered: not working but might be my dual rom - further testing needed
Gembench test results:

Re: Kodak80 H4F build
Paralell port now tested and works fine. List in previous post updated.
I have replaced the WD1772, DMA and Yamaha chips but floppy still not working. Motor activates on drive but nothing after that.

Re: Kodak80 H4F build
Have you checked the 1772 clock to see if 8mhz is there?
Also your AB swap jumpers look wrong.

Re: Kodak80 H4F build
Okay, finally got back to this board. Wow... the H4F V7 board has the issue from the original release version. YM pin 21 to floppy pin 2/32 is well and truly grounded on the ACSI external connector! I remember this from the original H4 fixes.exxos wrote: Sat Jun 07, 2025 8:56 am Have you checked the 1772 clock to see if 8mhz is there?

I have filed down the hole to cut the internal track, added a bodge wire and the floppy disk is now working.
Re: Kodak80 H4F build
Should not have any faults after all the revisions. I don't remember what your referring to, can you give me more information and I'll check the files.
Re: Kodak80 H4F build
Oh I see the problem,
Version F
Version F1 - looks like I made the DB19 holes longer to fit various connectors and even though the track was moved, it still managed to short out
There is a rev G as well, but that has a few DRC errors as looks like I started making pads on ICs the oval types. Though Eagle says the board and schematic not consistent, probably thought at that point "nope" and gave up. Claude worked it out in second, but don't have time to figure out what its on about right now..
Looks like a lot got re-routed, but now has SMT parts for resistors and caps, not sure why, the whole point of the H4 was to use though-hole parts
Possible it was heading towards the H5 at that point and got renamed after, so rev G would be a very early H5 build .
