OK, so it's reassembled RAM is all good, but the FDD board no longer works. I'm guessing I need to work on alignment next..

Minor tweak to remove some material from the front corner of the edge connnector on the FDD board and it's working a treat.

I also added composite out when I buttoned it up:

Picture quality isn't fabulous but it's fine for a quick hook up and at some point in the future I'm planning to try hooking up to an RGB2HDMI.

512KB RAM expansion and Pear EXDOS FDD controller with Gotek. Also added composite out.

Pleased how far this machine has come and I'm considering getting another, its a fab machine.

Yay!
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Yay indeed, pretty happy with the results considering the amount of silt inside it when it arrived!!!

@stephen_usher

Looks like you're not the only one with power issues.

My FDD card stopped working and this appears to be dead:

Got a new one on order but my green LED stopped being green and that was the end of booting from floppy...

I replaced D101 though that was reading OK, just go to wait for the replacement U101 now.

Just get a 2A Traci and lash it up. 😊

The board designer was trying to be too clever designing his own high power buck regulator. In my opinion he should have just put the position for a 7805 and designed a separate regulator PCB to be optionally fitted instead of a “normal” off the shelf one.

I may have to go for that if this replacement fails as well...

I do appreciate the designer making it polarity agnostic though.
