Last week I wanted to replace my SD4ST+ mini with an ATARI BBAN SD hard drive but because I live in the EU, I had to buy something else, and otherwise it wouldn't be sent to me. I had a look and bought an ATARI STE 32MHz BOOSTER V1 PLUG-IN V4sm. But now that I have it, I want to use it, too.
My question (and probably just my first one) is as follows: my STe has two TOS 2.06 chips and 4 MB of SIMMs with three chips each that say "GoldStar GM71C4400AJ70 9308 KOREA" (unless that "1" is an "I"). Can I use those or do I have to replace them to use the 32MHz Booster?
Can all registered uses please login, even just for a few minutes..
It helps build a picture where our "good traffic" is coming from..
Thanks :)

The RAM should be fine TBH, however the standard ROMs will be too slow but you'll need a fast TOS ROM kit like this Fast TOS KitReluctant16bitter wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 6:27 pm My question (and probably just my first one) is as follows: my STe has two TOS 2.06 chips and 4 MB of SIMMs with three chips each that say "GoldStar GM71C4400AJ70 9308 KOREA" (unless that "1" is an "I"). Be aware that you will also require a ROM for it and the kit requires assembly. If you wish to have switchable ROMs then you'll need a switch and some wires.
Without the fast TOS you'll be unlikely to run at 32Mhz.

Re: Installing an STe 32mhz booster
Right. Thanks (and also for correcting the question title)
