Amiga mechanical keyboard

Post by HigashiJun »

Just came back tomorrow from my 1 month trip abroad.

Still a bit jet-lagged but I wanted to open a nice parcel that was waiting for me so long...

Impressive want can be done with a large enough user base.

I had just bought a used one for £79 (with keycaps) when they announced a new one for £99

Unfortunately because it connects to the A1200 motherboard via the ribbon cables it suffers from the same problems the original did (the matrix decoder chip on the motherboard cannot accept certain key-combinations)

Here are Some pictures of the keycap transfer process and the final result:

One of the two provided stabilizer plastic inserts for the space bar broke :x during the transfer, and since there are no spares but just the exact number of parts, I had to modify my old inserts in order to replace the broken one.

Given how flaky my A1200's keyboard is (I have to "wake it up" by typing every key lots every time I take it out of storage) I should look at getting one.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.
