DSP-508A cap kit doesn't match my PSU

Post by sportq »

I just got an STE1040 from Gumtree and wanted to recap it before I switch it on as some of them look ready to pop.

The kit in the webstore contains these:
680uF 25V x3
16V 4700UF x2
250V 47UF x2

My PSU has
330uF 25v x3
2200uF 16v x2
47uF 250V x2
100uF 25v x1

I guess the 680uF and 4700uF caps are better replacements for the ones I have and the 47uF is an exact match but there's no replacement for the 100uF 25v cap and that's the one the looks the worst.

Are there multiple versions of the DSP-508A?

The caps are generally higher value or voltage in all kits.

If you look at the install guide, it shows what caps are in the kit and what gets replaced with what.

I don't recall ever seeing the smaller ones fail, so they are not included.
