Almost ready to try a boot. Just missing Shifter ZIF socket, for easy Phoenix Shifter testing, and the Oscillator. Oh also the 68K expansion sockets.

I have raced ahead on one board as I had all the components and am waiting on more to arrive from @exxos to continue on the other H5 boards for @ijor and @exxos.

Before I boot I'll do a little section here on the Jumpers and probably break it out into a renewed one for the H5 C5B as I remember doing one for the H4 a while back.

EDIT: found the link to the H4 jumpers - viewtopic.php?p=28981#p28981

Looking at the low profile ZIF socket for the Shifter chip I think normally the lever is on the end of the chip where the notch and pin 1 is. However in the first picture the lever obscures the 16MHz jumper and no amount of tweaking, well nice hacking, is going to work.

So I am putting all ZIF sockets with lever at the bottom to allow me to get to the 16MHz line.

In situ including a WD1772 ZIF socket. I'll put a white dot on the ZIF sockets to make sure identification of orientation is shown. This was a specific requirement for Ijor.

And now we have the completed board. I need to do some preflight checks before attempting a power on. This board is going to be @ijor's, the other two have lagged behind a little as I have been scoping this one out with the tweaks. The others will be the same. There may be a few more teaks on this board before it's ready to ship.

Looks beautiful already ... :)

The manufacturer actually has variants with the lever in different positions, and I believe even in different "polarity" (in which lever position the socket is closed, and in which is open). But the distributors only carry the "normal" part.

First turn on and no bananas. At least there was no smoke or :fire:. I don't have time tonight to investigate but will take a look tomorrow.

BTW there is a good troubleshooting guide for the H4 / H5 which will get you booting: viewtopic.php?t=2362
