Help with TF1260?

Post by akuehnemund »

Hello everyone,

I can't seem to get the IDE interface on my TF1260 to work.I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. my TF1260 is #2246 from alenppc in Canada. The accelerator portion of the card appears to work just fine. Back when I purchased it, the seller told me that it already had the newest 68090(?) firmware installed.
So, here's what I have tried in order to get the IDE interface to work:

- Connected CF card with the 68LC060 image on a CF card to the internal IDE header (https://alen.dreamhosters.com/terriblef ... tallation/). The AMIGA boots just fine. That image already comes with LoadModule and ehide.device - so no need to download from Aminet and install.

- I edited the Startup-Sequence and added the line 'C:Loadmodule >NIL: DEVS:ehide.device'. Saved and closed. Turned off A1200.

- Connected a second CF card with an AmigaOS 3.2.x install to the IDE header on the TF1260.

- Turned on the A1200, computer starts to book from internal IDE interface, then reboots... and then nothing further happens. Just a black screen. The green LED on the CF adapter that is attached to the TF1260 never comes on.

- When I connect that CF card to the internal IDE interface, the A1200 boots just fine from that card.

- Also, with both cards connected, and with the LoadModule line in Startup-Sequence commented out, the A1200 will boot from the internal CF card. If I then open HDToolbox with the device driver set to ehide.device, it shows me the CF card that is attached to the TF1260. If I launch HDToolbox with the device driver set to scsi.device - it shows me the CF card that is attached to the internal IDE header. So, it does look as if it sees the CF card attached to the TF1260's IDE header. It just won't boot from it.

I set the boot priority for the CF card that is attached to the TF1260 to '5' and I changed the name to 'XDH0' to avoid any duplicate volume names/

Am I overlooking something? If so, what? I would be ever so grateful for help.

I'm attaching a bunch of screenshots. Hope this helps. Thx!

Andre

what roms do you have in the A1200 ? 3.1.or 3.2xx ? as if you are trying to boot a 3.2 OS you will need 3.2 roms, and I always find that it more helpful just to get hold of a set of roms with the ehide device already in the rom

Hi! The ROMs are 3.2.3... without the eide.device driver. The ultimate plan would be to get ROMs that include the driver, but I would like to see the IDE header on the TF1260 work before I go and spend more money on new ROMs.

So you have 3.2.3. roms and then you have Alens CF card on the A1200 and your 3.2 CF on the TF1200 and so what you are looking for is when you boot that the A1200 IDE boots with the loadmodule ehide device which will then boot the TF1200 IDE.

The problem I think is that you have 3.2.3 rom and are trying to boot Alens CF on the A1200 which is a 3.1os so this will fail as you cant boot 3.2.3 from a 3.1 system, perhaps Alen can confirm this

Also as I did say getting a set of roms with ehide inside it will stop all the headaches as it is Plug & Play ;)

As above, trying to boot an older OS on the newer ROMs is likely to be problematic especially with all the version checking for patches in there. I would do a clean 3.2.3 install to the internal IDE then add the ehide.device via load module on that if you just want to test the 1260 IDE.

Thanks, guys! I'll pick up 3.2.x ROMs with ehide.device the next time I'm in Europe. I appreciate your help!
