Hey all, been hanging around nosing through posts for a few months. And have bought a fair bit from the webshop for my 520 STfm, such as a 4mb ram kit, psu recapping kit, board capping kit, and a couple of other things. done that and all was good.

Decided i needed an STe.. in the last week I've managed to acquire 3.. the tales of which i shall speew elsewheres in the forum, as im 110% sure ill be asking complete moron level questions about.

I do want to expand one of them to the N'th degree, booster, hard drive, likely just pistorm it as it seems the most straightforward route.. even if its kinda cheating. other id like to try a proper 68k accelerator/booster of some sort. maybe.. a 68010 instead of the 68000. I need to get my ducks in a row about what is and isnt possible, and what will play nice or not together.

Back in the day i owned a lot of atari kit, MegaSTe, MegaST2, 520STfm (hence why i picked up another) and more dongles, add-ons and gadgets than i can shake a stick at. but sadly i donated all of this back in 2010 to a museum.. along with a LOT of other kit.. 2 transit van loads.. boxed.. some sealed.. don't... it brings a tear to a glass eye to think of that now.

If you're going to boost your STE I'd suggest you look at this: 32Mhz STE booster and obviously the other boosters there too.

PiStorm isn't really going very far at the moment (Have a look at some of the ST PiStorm threads) and is certainly nowhere near as mature as the Amiga version, of which I have 2 and they are brilliant.

I do have an ST PiStorm, but it's more for experimentation when I get round to it. It's certainly not ready for prime time and may never be from what I'm hearing.

There is a lot of other good stuff though, so you should be able to get your Nth degree STE nicely modded

Regarding the boosters ive been avidly reading the TF536 STe thread, but it seems its sorta being left as a might work, might not thing. and has a few issues. and at a fair bit of outlay once you factor in finding the 030 etc.

The 32MHz booster again, interesting. but its still just a souped up 68k with the associated quirks that were ironed out later with the others in the series, like MMU, and eventually built in FPU. thats why I thought about the 010 as at least had some improvements like the virtual memory etc.. so if I could use one with the 32mhz booster that might be a plan. I thought about the pistorm as I own a couple of Amigas, a A600 and a A2000. and it goes well in those, I prefer the bare metal variant instead of the linux based OS but essentially its still emulation. It also works well on my BBC computers, I use both a PiTube co-pro and Pi Level shifter SCSI setup.. but hey Acorn invented ARM chips.. so it should play nice with those
