H5 FAQ?

I cannot see a H5 FAQ on this forum. Does the H5 have a dedicated wiki and/or FAQ or it is just this subforum?

I don't think I can quite justify paying £160 for a H5 motherboard but I might consider buying the £50 H5.

The £160 H5 description says:

"Included is reset switch, oscillators, MFP"

What is MFP?

I have what was a fully functional STFM whose mobo I mercilessly abused recently. Does this mean that I should have all of the components required to build up a £50 H5 if I can successfully transplant all of the chips? If not, then where is the BOM of all the additional components I would need to buy to build a fully functional board?

The link is via the shops 'i' button found on certain products.

The 68901 chip, or Multi Function Peripheral is one of the ICs you need to build the machine, all STs have them. IIRC the H5 can use a surface mount version rather than a DIP package, which I think is included.

Not 100% sure what the oscillator is for, but very likely for the FDD to allow it to run in HD mode.

exxos replied a year ago and said at the time that no, there is no assembly guide for the H5. It seems that the user just has to work it out by themselves, trawl these forums and ask questions when they get stuck, which is a bit disappointing. Hopefully I'm wrong and there is some documentation now.

At the bare minimum, the schematics and BOM(s) should have a sticky thread so they can be easily located. I'm not sure I can be bothered otherwise. If it was an open source project, I might be tempted to do all this documentation work but otherwise nope. Its not worth the effort for such a limited run.

Easy to find if you look in the H5C5B section (which is the current build) , assembly as I did it.. Plus the BOM if you want to build your on bare board.

It doesn't look like too much stuff but I'm unclear about

"NOTE: The BOM only includes pre-assembled parts."

Does that mean the BOM only lists all the parts that are assembled on the £160 H5 board?

Do you know how much that BOM costs or used to cost from JLCPCB or anywhere else?

How many H5C5B's have been fully built and tested now? Are there any known issues?

There was around £100 worth of parts last time I priced it up. There is more assembled this time around.

The one thing that I would recommend that you have that I'm not sure is fully mentioned in the BOM is LOTS of header jumpers. I think like 10 or so.

Yessum, I am not sure if it is the lack of searching skills on my part.... but I cannot seem to find a clear description of what is actually included in the Phoenix H5 Motherboard (159.00GBP). Is it an assembled board? Partly assembled - SMD components etc (from some of the build threads I am guessing this to be the case)? What is included? All of the custom chips? None of them? Some of them? Ports etc? What else is required to complete the motherboard?

Looks like a nice project..... but I am not quite sure.

If someone could kindly point me to a link outlining the product in some detail it would be greatly appreciated.

If you go to the motherboard section of the store Store it shows a picture of the board you will get and also mentions what items are included. From there click i to see more info.

I would add that the store shows as out of stock BTW.

I CAME from the shop - there is absolutely no information in the description as to what is included, what is not included, what is required, the features etc. Nothing at all. I clicked on the "i" for information and it simply took me to Exxos's build of the motherboard outlining some initial issues with the opamp chip being soldered in the wrong way and issues with the reset button..... but no description as to what is included, what is not included, what is required, the features etc.

I must be missing something obvious, I just know it.
