Also, I use a different cable with the OSSC (custom SCART with resistors) than the 1084S (straight cable).

Maybe I have made a short somewhere? I'll look into it tomorrow.

From the top, there don't seem to be any shorts.
Next, I'll do another round of beeping to make sure my eyes aren't deceiving me.

Are these two supposed to make contact?

I've just scoped the analog RGB outputs at the DAC chip directly and they range from 1.48V to 3.60V, which is actually a bit wider than the 1.685V to 3.315V range from the spec sheet. So nothing indicating reduced output levels there.

I took out my other STE to compare signal levels.

The STE with the DAC board reads 0.38V to 1.38V between the last resistor and the connector.

My other (stock) STE reads 0.42V to 1.73V at the same point.

I don't know if this difference entirely accounts for the perceived lack of brightness but it looks significant.

By the way, these are the capacitors that I removed before installing the DAC board.

PSU voltage to low ? To much termination after the RGB socket ?

PSU 5V reads 4.972V (PSU has been recapped using Exxos kit)
DAC Vcc reads 4.951V

I don't know how to measure things related to termination because I don't really understand how termination works.

The video signals in the socket measure around 1.5V but that's with my multi meter.
