Nice. Join the club.
Not thinking of ordering a Spectrum Next in the KS3 that is running right now? They are a little expensive at £320. I've still not opened my KS2 one :)
Yes it will run all normal Spectrum stuff. There are a good 20 so Next titles, probably more. The Next being an FPGA based computer can be reconfigured to be other computers. There are lots of cores for it. There is going to be an official Sam Coupe core for Next as part of KS3 (there is an unofficial one but it needs a bit of polishing)rubber_jonnie wrote: 22 Jul 2025 13:04 [Is there much in the way of 'Next' games? Yeah, I agree the Next seems a bit expensive and whilst the cores allowing it to be multiple machines is interesting, it's something I just don't need.

Re: Stuff and Things.
You'd be hard pressed to get a Sam Coupe for under £900 these days. I think that core is relevant to the Next.rubber_jonnie wrote: 23 Jul 2025 11:29 whilst the cores allowing it to be multiple machines is interesting, it's something I just don't need.

I don't disagree, and for some folks that will definitely be a draw, but not for me, the Sam Coupe was never really on my radar.alexh wrote: 23 Jul 2025 11:37You'd be hard pressed to get a Sam Coupe for under £900 these days. Re: Stuff and Things.
Another Atari thing arrived today :)
I specifically wanted this one because like Berzerk and Frenzy which have hidden versions of each other accessed on the 7800+ or 2600+ by holding down select for 10 seconds on the title screen, Asteroids Deluxe also contains Asteroids, this time accessed by holding down Pause on power up.
So essentially a twofer :)
Both versions are great, but what I am a little surprised at is the 7800 had Asteroids built in if you didn't plug a cart in, the 7800+ doesn't. It'd be cool if they could add that in via a firmware update at some point.

Re: Stuff and Things.
OK, person best for me on Berzerk Enhanced, game mode 2, using my 2600 light sixer and CX40 joystick :)
Best score of all the versions I've played, and boy do those robots move and shoot fast the further you get in. I might have done better if it weren't for some particularly awful respawns after getting shot.

Re: Stuff and Things.
I can tell that you're enjoying yourself though. :-)
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Re: Stuff and Things.
Had an interesting little problem with one of the other forums I frequent today.
I was talking about ∅2 (PHI) on the 6502 and when I tried to post, I hit an SQL issue. Nothing worked at all, it just wouldn't post until I replaced ∅2 with PHI2.
I tried to DM somebody and that also failed until I removed ∅ from the text.
As you can see, it works fine here, and also on another PHPBB forum I tried.
I guess it can't interpret the symbol, but it does make me wonder if it isn't a possible way in for somebody using a malicious request to try and break in...
