I'm back from my second trip and discovered that a little parcel has arrived.
Since exxos forum was down yesterday, here is today's update:
A nice ISA Super VGA
And its backside, which I have to clean a bit from its flux residue...
Fitted in the Tandy 1000EX. Hmm, definitely needs a bracket here.
And the output on the screen, not completely centered though
I guess I will burn the latest BIOS (version D4.01E) while waiting for the RTC clock to reach me.
Also still waiting for a part needed to complete my XT CF mini build...

Re: New (and last ?) inbound
Yay !
Two items I was waiting for have just arrived.
The bad news is that one of them - the CF card socket - is not a reversed one as expected...
The RTC on the other hand is really a good stuff:
The RTC:
The Tandy BIOS chip fitted:
And the RTC installed in the Tandy:
Now have to buy a battery and give this new gadget a try.
:D

Nice, does that just leave the CF solution to be fitted? I presume it's an XT-IDE?

It's an XT-CF-Mini, and that's why I need a reversed CF socket.rubber_jonnie wrote: 08 Mar 2025 10:59 Nice, does that just leave the CF solution to be fitted? I presume it's an XT-IDE?
More is expected from this little machine, and I am still waiting for some other parts to test the viability of my projects.

Re: New (and last ?) inbound
Ok, I slept on it and finally decided to completely remove that el cheapo RF shield...
The Tandy looks more PC than ever:
Like in these old good C64s, that kind of RF shield is only a useless heat trap.
My Tandy should be grateful for breathing better now. :D

Re: New (and last ?) inbound
I think that was a good call. I did the same with my VIC-20, and I pretty much always remove the top RF shield in ST's and Also in my A500 just recently.HigashiJun wrote: 09 Mar 2025 03:43 Ok, I slept on it and finally decided to completely remove that el cheapo RF shield...

Quite unnecessary, and in the case of the cardboard ones (The VIC had one) not even any metal to conduct heat.
Looking good in there.
