That was the technique in the late 90's early 00's but CF cards have not worked like that for a long time. And you need a PC with a native PATA port that can run DOS.

OK so the Amiga is fully recapped, just waiting on the SD card adapter and then fingers crossed it can all go back together.

Allegedly Evri are delivering my SD to IDE adapter today, between 14:30 and 16:30. Fingers crossed it'll work as expected and I can get the Amiga buttoned up over the weekend.

Well the SD to IDE adapter arrived and it works brilliantly :)

So this weekend I really need to get my 3d Printer out and try to run off a Gotek housing!

Looking very positive for getting it buttoned up over the weekend :)

OK, so the Amiga is reassembled and working fine. The SD card solution is way better than the CF card and is 4GB so very happy with that.

There's a couple of caveats though. First off, I've not sorted the Gotek yet. It's a bit more complicated than for the ST so I'll either see if I can mod the external drive to be bootable or get round to the Gotek later. I suppose booting from the external Gotek isn't so much of a thing as long as I can have an external one for installing whdload onto the HDD.

I also need to fit a switch to turn off the IDE interface, and I need to get some parts for that.

In the meantime I need to have a bit of a tidy so I can pull the Atari 400 apart and have a look round inside.

Very happy with the outcome though, 8MB fastram plus 1MB of chip RAM and 4GB of HDD.

It's a good feeling when you can finally put the case back together and call it done.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.
