Raven 060 (sety's build)

Post by sety »

Hi all,

Sorry I haven't been on in a while, I've been a bit busy. Logged in the other day and saw the Raven. Spent a few days sleeping on it, but now I've committed myself

It will be a very slow build though, the most difficult thing about building retro hardware in Australia is filling the BOM.

What are you guys using for a CPU socket? With the 68060r6 being so hard to find, I don't really want to hard solder it in.

It's going to be a fun build though! Slow but fun!

Cheers,
Stuart

You have to get a PGA 206 socket, such as this one:

Hi,

I confirm. I purchased it from Archi-tech, and they are reliable.
Little advice: buy an 060 rev 6 directly so as not to waste time....

Good work !
Raven 060 rev 6 96MHz
ET4000AX 1Mb T0
PicoGUS 2.0

Thanks! Ordered! I could not find that anywhere in Aus. Not even RS had it.

Thanks! I already have one though. I think I got it here from Chris's store, so I trust that it's real. Looking forward to the build!

You mean from exxos store ?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but exxos does not sell 68060s in his store.

He used to, back when sety bought it. Probably around 2017.

It was years ago. I also bought another one when Willie did a batch of new ct60e and I jumped in, but I honestly don't remember where I got that one from. I think the guys on AF found a reliable source and I got it from the same place they were. It's too long ago to remember.

I mean they have both worked very well in ct60/e, but I have never built a whole computer at component level before so I don't know what will happen.
