MIDI - complete noob questions

@JezC That's just the stuff I still have from back in the day. Had an SC-55 as well when they came out, various Emu and Kai samplers and so on. I've got few Korg Volca modules to mess around with, only got them about a month ago and not touched them hardly yet.

I've looked at the Volca modules but not yet committed to getting any. Might put in a cheeky bid on some auctions at some point though...one advantage they have is their small size (but they don't have MIDI as standard?)

Slightly off-topic...but kind of related: I used to work with Gary Gregson (sadly now RIP) and he did the SC55 editor in the 90s then moved on to Yamaha to do the editor for some of the XG synths (I think...)

A friend from the next village has invited me over to see the two Mellotron machines he has refurbished and now selling - I won't be buying one though!

Interesting...so easy to use as another sound source provided you have plenty of MIDI outputs or a THRU/splitter box?
With the Log3 + Unitor II on the Falcon I think I can have 7 separate MIDI outs (and if that's not enough I could then use the Export on the serial port for a few more)..

Hey up. One final question before I let the thread die off.

How do I change the instrument on the track in CUBASE?

I'm slowly navigating around CUBASE and learning from YouTube but I'm a bit stumped on this. Is it possible?

Also, it could just be me, but after four tracks of drums recorded the mt 120 struggle to play anything else on top of the existing playing sounds (a fifth track). Is this a configuration error on my part or a limitation of the Roland MT 120?

Should I start a new thread?

Not sure if you have a manual for the Roland - if not take a look at https://www.polynominal.com/Roland-mt12 ... Manual.pdf

I had a quick flick through and it has a built in 5 track sequencer so should be capable of playing more than 4 tracks, maybe have a try using the h/w sequencer and see if it works standalone?
