Re: My summer project: A colour Stacy
So just a quick update here. I did get the RGB2HDMI mod working. Mostly.
If I use a standard HDMI to HDMI mini cable (shielded) it works fine and I
get a beautiful picture. This is on a Dell 27" monitor or a 24" Viewsonic.
If I use one of those slim, ribbon wire, "assemble yourself" HDMI cables,
it will only work if I hold on to the ribbon wire. If I let go, the screen
goes black. Strange, but there it is.
In our recent Atari BBS Guru Zoom meeting, I showed this to the people
there, live. They was as puzzled as I am, although there was one suggestion
that I wrap the ribbon wire in aluminum foil, followed by wrapping my head in
aluminum foil.
Oh, the other really bothersome thing was the replacement LCD screen I had
ordered had a dead backlight, out of the box/brand new. I've reordered the
same screen and another controller board (just in case) but they haven't arrived
yet.
More to come...

Re: My summer project: A colour Stacy
I did get the new board and screen in. Now I've just got to figure out the geometry. I got the width okay but the vertical? Not so much...
It doesn't help that the controller board is not in English and I can't figure out how to put it into English.

If at one point the OSD menu displays "中文" (meaning Chinese language, if my use of google translate is okay), it's likely that you are on the language settings with the current value displayed.

Thanks, I tried finding that in the menu's but couldn't.sporniket wrote: 10 Jul 2024 21:37 If at one point the OSD menu displays "中文" (meaning Chinese language, if my use of google translate is okay), it's likely that you are on the language settings with the current value displayed.
The OSD that pops up when I press the menu button has icons along the left side. The 2nd one down, with arrows pointing
left, right, up and down is unavailable. When I scroll down, it just skips over it. I'm assuming that's geometry?

Re: My summer project: A colour Stacy
I have no idea.
Also, I can't read/speak Chinese (I only know how to say "hello" and "thanks"), but I believe that Google can help you if you have an Android based phone and the "Google Translate" app :

Re: My summer project: A colour Stacy
Okay, I got it. I e-mailed the seller on Ebay and he gave me the directions, with 3 screenshots,
on how to get to the language option and change it.
Big help! Now though, I'm stuck with that same problem. For whatever reason, the 2nd icon
down, which I'm fairly sure is the "Geometry" icon, is greyed out and won't allow me to select
it. When you scroll down, it just skips over it.
I e-mailed the seller again, to see if he has any idea about that.
Thanks for the help - appreciated. :)

Re: My summer project: A colour Stacy
Well, that was easier than I expected (I never expect *anything* I do to be easy - it's just the way
the universe works).
I didn't have to use the screen controls at all. Using the RGB2HDMI guide (not the quick-start guide),
I figured out how to fix the borders. At least, I found a way - not sure if it's the "right" way or the
best way but...well, you can see the difference here (compared to the screen above):

Re: My summer project: A colour Stacy
Oh, just a little more fine turning around the edges and I think I'll
have it.
Of course, I may have to adjust it after I run a few games and demos
by it -some of them seem to move around a bit on the screen. I think
that may also be the difference sometimes in Pal/NTSC - 50/60 hertz
when running software.
Really happy with it so far. :)

Re: My summer project: A colour Stacy
@DarkLord Screen looks great(I like this blue background), have you tried running some games demos on it? How this screen behaves? Is there possibility to turn on mono?
